Sailing
Charters Grenadines
There is nothing that can compare
with a day of exhilarating sailing, especially around the Grendaines.
Generous winds, excellent beaches combined with fresh local
foods in a warm delightful atmosphere makes for a great vacation.
Sailing charters range from bareboat
monohull and catamaran yachts to luxury crewed
monohull and
catamaran yachts.
Here is how Captain Dave from
the crewed catamaran yacht "Madiba"
describes the area:
"Things down there just seemed
to get better and better. Tobago Cays over Easter was as if
one had died and gone to heaven. Quite beyond description.
And we were certainly blessed by Aeolus. Every day the glorious
trade winds kept an even temper and in my more than fifty years
of sailing this is the best I have ever had. Not many get to
reach across the St Vincent channel under spinnaker! Mustique
even gave us moments of paparazzi palpitations when twice we
rubbed shoulders on the dinghy dock with Prince William and
Sir Richard Branson. At Bequia we witnessed the wonders of
nature as a mummy turtle the size of a large tractor tyre beached
herself and dropped her eggs on the Princess Margaret beach.
Glywnnis was a very relieved girl to locate some good suppliers.
She found standards had improved markedly in the past few years.
Take Clifton, Union Island, where a French girl has set up
a superb little delicatessen. Generally the growing French
influence bodes well for the catering side of our business.
Most importantly, how did our five sets of repeat guests feel
about the area? Almost unanimously they felt it was the best
part of the Caribbean and well worth the extra effort getting
there." by Captain Dave.
Here is a sample seven day Grenadines
yacht charter itinerary:
Day 1 Depart St. Vincent for
Mustique the playground of the elite. Enjoy a drink at Basil's
beach bar built on stilts over the water, after an island tour.
Day 2 Sail off for Salt Whistle
Bay (enjoy the two beaches at Salt Whistle Bay Club) on Mayreau.
Day 3 Petit St. Vincent is your
next overnight with a stop at Mopion & Pinese.
Day 4 The
Tobago Cays a group of uninhabited islands.
Day 5 Enjoy and
explore the cays, the wind here is so refreshing.
Day 6 Sail
for Canouan and a possible game of Golf or enjoy the beach
and people of this island.
Day 7 Onto to Admiralty Bay on
Bequia where the waterfront shops, restaurants and model sailboats
are outstanding. Take an island tour visiting Spring on Bequia,
Friendship Bay. (ask for Curtis's Taxi)
Day 8 It is a short
sail home to the Marina on St. Vincent.
As an option to your bareboat
charter I would recommend hiring a local skipper who would
enhance your experience of this wonderful area. One of those
captains is Captain Cathy also know as Cosmos. Cosmos was born
and lives on Bequia. Many of his brothers are sailors also
as are many of the Bequia men, sailing the world over. Cosmos
will take you to the best anchorages, beaches and restaurants.
